Kokololio Camp

Hi Troop 75,

I hope you all had a very nice safe weekend! The heat and humidity was terrible! Especially on Friday! It was like that the entire weekend! On the brighter side, the ocean was nice and very refreshing! We had our last Trailer Camp for the year. Next month's Camp will be the Waimano Trail Survival Camp, and November is Urban Camp. No Camping in December. A HUGE THANKS to all the Scout's and Parents who participated this weekend! We had a fabulous time!

It was a very long ride to Hauula. Took us about an hour to get there. We made good time, even with the Friday traffic. We arrived at 6:00 pm, and quickly put up the Dining Tent. The Boy's put up their personal Tents. And settled in, and prepared dinner. After a very delicious dinner. We just relaxed and enjoyed the camaraderie of each other's company. It was so hot and humid, our energy just left us.The Boy's used their time constructively, they put up the Flag Pole, worked on rank requirements and practiced their knots and lashings. It was a long tiring day. And we all retired early.

We woke up bright and early on Saturday morning, and we're treated to a magnificent Sunrise! The trade winds started blowing to cool things off a bit. But it was still very hot and humid. After a hearty breakfast. The Boy's spent the better part of the morning exercising, and went for a nice brisk run. Then after that. It was time to hit the beach to cool off! Adults as well. The water was a nice 75-80 degrees. The sun was out, and the ocean was so refreshing! We spent the next few hours body surfing and boogie boarding, before breaking for lunch.

After lunch, we rested and went back to the beach. We spent the rest of the day in the water. It was hard to get out of the water. We all had a very nice Saturday night dinner. We we're exhausted from swimming all day. So we just relaxed and enjoyed the cool evening air the rest of the night. The Boy's made a very nice Camp Fire. And they did skits and shared their jokes with us. The Boy's turned in shortly thereafter. They we're tired. We did have a little drama. Early Sunday morning we we're awakened by loud vulgar yelling. Apparently the people camping next to us got all their Fishing Gear stolen. We felt so bad as them. It was a Husband and Wife and 8 Children. And the guy was venting his anger. The Thieves apparently came into our Camp as well. But Gavin and Justin we're sleeping in the Dining Tent. And that deterred them from ripping us off. And they we're heard wandering around our tents. It took awhile to settle our nerves. Not long after that we had a heavy down pour of rain. And it was on/off rain until we left Sunday morning. We had to break down in the rain. We all got soaked. Thank goodness Pearl City was hot and sunny so everything dried quickly.

A HUGE THANKS to our Iron Chef's, Steven Ogata and Ryan Oshita. THANKS to Grill Master Vernon Verzon. Thank You for all the delicious food. Special Thanks to Steven Ogata for the Fresh Oysters that we enjoyed hot off the Grill! Thanks to Todd Kaetsu for the Rib Eye Steaks. The Staff always eats very well! Thank You to Viene Lam for bringing a Stove for the Staff on Saturday morning. We missed it during the Trailer check. Mahalos to our Tow Masters, Ryan Oshita and Todd Kaetsu for taking the Trailer to and from.
