Urban camp 2014

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! It was a great weekend for UH Athletics! YAY Bows! Great win on Senior Night! The weather was perfect!  And we had an awesome time at our Annual Urban Camp. Couldn't ask for much more than that!  A HUGE MAHALOS to the Scout's and Adults who attended. It was a great time of fun and fellowship.

Our day started out with a nice, but very bumpy ride to the Ala Moana Shopping Center. Due to all the road construction along the Bus Route. We arrived at Ala Moana around 10:00 a.m. The Boy's we're eager to start their day of fun

Brant Yamamoto and Kyle Higa came up with a little contest. Each group had to take selfies at various businesses around Ala Moana. It was a good work out for the Scout's and it tired out the Adult Chaparones. We met up at 12:00 p.m. for Lunch. The Boy's we're very thirsty and hungry by then. We had a good lunch to recharge out batteries and went on our way again. We met back up at Center Stage at 2:45 p.m. and started walking to the Hotel.

The Boy's we're anxious to sit and rest in the comfort of their room with nice cool AC. They spread themselves out between 3 rooms. And proceeded to entertain themselves with their Electronic Devices, DVD Players and popcorn. All the Boy's we're perfectly content with just their Electronic Devices. And that was the extent their evening. It was a great time of fellowship and bonding. And that's what it's all about!

We did break at 6:00 p.m. to go to Walmart so everyone could shop for their microwavable dinners and snacks, since we had no Kitchen. Some people bought food from L&L. And some of us went to Asahi Grill.

I hope you all had a nice safe Halloween Celebration! it was a typical rainy Halloween Bight. But that didn't stop the Trick-O-Treaters or the Scout's of Troop 75. We we're fortunate the weather cooperated for most of the evening. I just want say a HUGE MAHALOS to all the Scout's, Parents and Siblings who came out to help support Breene Harimoto and the Pearl City Foundation with their Halloween Bash! Thank You for taking the time to be there! Breene and the PCF we're very appreciative for all our help. It was a nice turn out! Great job Troop 75! You guys are so awesome!

Court of Honor 09-2014

Hi Troop 75 Ohana,

I hope you're all enjoying your weekend! In spite of this hot and humid weather. When it comes to our Court Of Honor, it doesn't really matter what the weather conditions are! The Show will go on. This evening was no exception. Besides, it's one of my favorite Troop Activities. I wouldn't miss it for the world!

A HUGE MAHALOS to everyone who attended. Thank You for being there to help celebrate the accomplishments of our Scout's! Our Boy's worked so hard to earn their Merit Badges and Rank Advancements. And they certainly deserve recognition and acknowledgement. The Scout learns and grows, with each Merit Badge earned, and with each Rank Advancement. Congratulations Scout's! Very well done! You make us all proud! To Eric and his Flag Men, Thank You for opening and closing our Court Of Honor. Mahalos to Ian , for the beautiful prayer! Very well done Boy's!

MAHALOS to all the Adult Leaders and Volunteers. Thank You for all your hard work, dedication and support. You guys are the reason our Troop runs so smoothly, and so efficiently. Thank You for all the onolicious food and the delectable desserts.

Thank You to all the Ladies of the Activities Committee! Fabulous job as usual! Mahalos to Damien Boncales for working so hard to get all the Merit Badges and Rank Advancement things together. And for loaning us your sound system. Thank You to Pavel Peroutka for taking all the candid shots for our Blog Site. Next Court Of Honor is in December.

Peacock's Flats Survival Camp 2014

Mr. Jake and I would like to thank all who participated in our last survival camp for 2014.
Mr. Kevin & Mr. Pavel for helping assist with our scouts.
Gavin V, Mathew K, Jeff P, Jonathan S, Kamren I, Nicholas S, Remi E, Brant Y, Daylen M. & Jensen M.
who survived the 4 mile hike up 1500 ft to Peacock Flats than another 2 miles on Mokuleia trail. Total of 12 miles in 2 days.
Sandra Y, Verzon's and Sivalop's for providing transportation to and from Mokuleia.
It all started bright and early Saturday morning many of us were up 4:00 am. preparing for this event. Fun all started at 6:15 when we left from Kahikuonalani Church and were heading out on the trail by 7:15.
Our scouts made it to camp site at a record time 1.5 hrs with Jensen leading the way at the final stretch up a dirt hill. Way to go scouts!!!
Our 10 scouts quickly reserved their camp site among pine trees and displayed their scouting skills lashing trees setting-up shelters with tarps and hammock. Many of the older scouts decided to brave the weather by sleeping under the stars on make shift bed made of branches, twigs and leaves.
Mr. Jake taught our scouts search and rescue skills using mirror and markings on a open grass field, while Mr. Kevin taught his fire starting skills. We later had a chance to make purified water or (droplets of water) Ha Ha! using fire, sticks to make a tripod, rope and pot. Thanks to Brant Y. using his pot. Tell mom (Sandy) sorry we kinda burnt his pot. Nothing serious, a little scrubbing with steel wool would help to remove the varnish.
At least we learned maybe this is not the best way to make water to survive.
Mr. Jake and Mr. Pavel later took our scouts up the mountain (Mokuleia trail). Mr Kevin stayed back and got nabbed on the way back entertaining his new friend joining him on his sleeping mat. (See our web site for pictures) Thank You!! Mr. Pavel for providing great pictures.
Wow! what a fun filled, action pack weekend. You had to be there to enjoy and experience the fellowship & great out doors. Cool (cold) clean air, awesome views, quiet, darkness of the night, cloudless skies, numerous stars was out and not to mention the satellite crossing the sky.
It was such a fun filled day even Mr. Kevin got into the action sliding down the hill pulled by a few scouts. (check out the attachment to experience the fun)
Working, talking stories and getting closer knowing our scouts (priceless) Thanks Scouts.
Sorry it had to end.
But on that note it ended with malasadas, donuts and buns provided by Sandra Y. and Vernon V. Many Mahalo from our scouts and adults.
Great job everyone hang on to the memories and we'll do it again.
Mr. Jake and Mr. Dave

Another Summer Camp has come and
gone, hope you didn't blink. We had 18 boys from Troop
75 attend the 5th week of Summer Camp at Pupukea this year.
There were close to 300 boys at camp this past week,
including Troops from Maui, Big Island, California, and
Texas. Camp was so large that each meal service was split
into two time slots. We lucked out and got the second time
slot. Which meant we got to walk up for meal assembly, walk
back to our campsite, and then walk back up at our appointed
mealtime. Personally, I logged an average of 8 miles of
walking each day at camp.
Oh and did I mention that the boys
were smiling and laughing from the first rooster crow until
the last raindrop fell each night. I hope that meant they
had fun! I would like to thank each Scout who attended
Summer Camp this year, it was truly a memorial
event.
I would also
like to thank each parent for allowing your son to attend
this camp, for bringing all kinds of goodies from ice to
donuts to pizza, and for picking up your son after all his
classes were done. A BIG mahalos to Kevin for towing the
trailer to and from camp, to Steven for spending the wettest
part of the week with us at camp, and to Al, Paul, and
Damien for coming out during the week and participating in
the Scoutmaster Belly-Flop contest at the pool. A SUPER BIG
mahalos to Jason for not only staying the entire week and
cooking an awesome Troop 75 I Want Some More Cobbler, but
also teaching 2 Cooking Merit Badge Classes at camp this
week.
Once again the
boys worked hard at camp when they were not in class and
have earned their Honor Troop award.
And last, but not least, please
congratulate Kamren the next time you see him for completing
the BSA Mile Swim.
Mahalo,
Jeff

Hi Ho Hi Ho, it's down the trail we trudge. The power of mother nature treated we to an awesome display, 10 to 15 foot waves barreled down the coastline. This prevented us from exploring the many tidal pools that line the shoreline. But it's all good, we got close enough to see a Hawaiian monk seal resting in a tide pool. Humpback whales tail slapped and breached the surface's on both coast. Blows are not only on whales, the boy's got great pic's as the wave crashed the shore and big spray's of ocean water shot out. I did not realize the magnitude of the nesting area of the albatross. Man, that's a big bird. Spelunking, what dat? We repelled into a giant cave and explored it by flashlight. The mid mourning showers cooled us, as we greeted the many nature lover and whale watchers on the trail. All in all, everyone made it with no injuries, and in good spirits. PRICELESS!!!
