Putting up the Lights

Thank you to all the scouts and parents who came out on a blustery Sunday afternoon to help with the set up of the annual Christmas lights at Momilani Rec Center. Everyone worked hard, and the results of their labor has shone through! I hope Mr. Eshelman's knee injury gets better soon.

Automotive Maintenance Merit Badge

November 26, 2016

Thank you Mr. Masaki for sharing your knowledge and time with the boys today and helping them to complete their automotive maintenance merit badge requirements.

The day started bright and early at 8 a.m. sharp and lasted all day until just after 4 p.m. It was an action packed class and the scouts learned everything from shop safety rules, basic motor operation, engine maintenance skills, jump starting a battery, how to change a tire, and how to change the oil filter and oil. These are the skills that ALL drivers should learn, and each of the scouts did a fantastic job. Thank you to all the parents who came out today and to the parents who "volunteered" their vehicles to the cause.

Good Turn 2016

Hi Troop 75 Ohana,

It was a gorgeous day for Good Turn. The weather was nice, sunny, slight trades. But very hot and humid! We got to Punchbowl around 10:40 a.m., we got off the bus and made our way to right outside the gate. We had a nice lunch. Then we headed to the main tent to get out of the sun, and to sit down. The program started at 1:00 p.m. The ceremony was a really touching tribute to our fallen hero's.

The program was less an hour. Then the thousands of Cub Scout's and Boy Scout's blanked the Cemetery like a huge wave. It was a site to behold as the flags and lei's we're put at each of the 38,000 graves. The Cemetery was covered very quickly. Our Cub Scout Brothers and the Scout's of Troop 75 did their Good Turn with honor. They conducted themselves with maturity and respect. They all did an outstanding job of paying tribute to our fallen hero's.

I just want say A HUGE MAHALOS to all the Scout's, Scouter's and Parents who came out this morning to honor and remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for out freedom. We had a nice turn out. Troop 75 and Pack 75 we're very well represented. Special Thanks to all the Adults for helping to chaperone our Scout's. Mahalos to Meadow Gold for the ice cream and juice.

Aloha,
Mr. Al

Eagle Court of Honor- Jeffrey and Brant

Hi Troop 75 Ohana,

What an awesome evening for an Eagle Court Of Honor! A great time was had by all who attended! As we honored, celebrated and reflected on the Scouting careers of Brant Yamamoto and Jeffrey Peroutka. They worked very hard and earned their passage into the elite group of Eagle Scout's! To earn and achieve Boy Scout's most coveted award, is a huge accomplishment in itself.

There was so much work that went into making this Eagle COH a huge success. From the food, to the awarding of the Eagle Metals. All the behind the scenes work that went on, the countless hours of running around and making sure all the i's are dotted, and all the t's are crossed. All the little things. It was a culmination of effort, hard work, and dedication by the Yamamoto and Peroutka Ohana! You guys did an outstanding job! And it probably was a sigh of relief as well!

The Troop is honored to have two more Eagle Scout's in our Ohana! Please join me in a well deserved CONGRATULATIONS to Brant Yamamoto and Jeffrey Peroutka. Very well done! We're all very proud of you guys! It was great to see the Eagle Scout's from the past. And their Families too! It was a great time of fellowship for Family, Friends and Fellow Scouters!

MUCH MAHALOS  to all the Scout's and Parents who came early to help set up and decorate the Cafeteria. You guys did an outstanding job! Mahalos to Damien Boncales for allowing us to use his Sound System. Thank You to Dan Wong for the Eagle Banners. Mahalos to all the Parents for your continued help, dedication and support!

Aloha,
Mr. Al

Camp Hoomaluhia April 2016

We had a fabulous time at Hoomaluhia ! It was a little wet, on and off showers, heavy at times. And we still managed to have a great time! I just want to say a HUGE MAHALOS to all the Scout's, Adult Leaders and Parents who came out this weekend! And MAHALOS to our Pack 75 Cub Scout Brothers and their Families.

We made very good time on our journey to Hoomaluhia. We set up the Dining Fly in record time, with only 4 Scout's and 3 Adults. And even had our tents up before the sun went down. The Boy's ate early. They cleaned up and pretty much relaxed on Friday evening. We we're joined by 4 more Scout's on Saturday afternoon.

The mercury really dipped as the sun set. And when the breeze blew, it got pretty cold! But it was OK. The showers would come and go through the whole weekend. And we're heavy in the early morning hours. Typical Hoomaluhia weather.

We didn't go on our usual Hike to the Pali Lookout. There we're only 4 Scout's. And the degree of difficulty was a bit to much for the Cub Scout's. So our Scout's assisted Mr. Kevin with his Training Classes. We had a nice Saturday night Camp Fire, skits and joke time. And finished the evening making smores. The Cubbies retired after Campfire. Our Boy's played hide and seek, and a modified version of Capture The Flag the rest of the night.

A HUGE MAHALOS to Karen Batangan, the Cub Scout's and the Families of Pack 75. We really enjoyed their company. They all had a great time. And learned new skills and got a first hand look at what the next level of Scouting will be like. Our Scout's did an outstanding job of helping to teach and introduce the Cubbies to Boy Scout's. Our Scout's rock!

BIG HUGE MAHALOS to Mr. Kevin for being our Towmaster and our GOAT(guru of all things) for the weekend! MAHALOS to Vernon Verzon and Damien Boncales for helping to cook. Thank You to Dan and Sharon Kiyohiro for visiting. Thanks Vernon and Dan for helping with Rustin's Scoutmaster Conference. Mahalos to all the Parents for always being there for our Scout's. The Troop and I are truly blessed!

Camp Kualoa March 2016

Camp Photos courtesy Sharon Kiyohiro

We had an awesome time at Kualoa this weekend! A HUGE MAHALOS to all the Scout's, Adult Leaders and Parents who participated and helped to make this Camp a fun and memorable experience.

The weather was OK. Not to much sun. Mostly overcast. We did get some rain on Friday evening while we we're setting up camp. But nothing after that. As soon as the sun went down. The mercury really took a dive. A chilly breeze off the water and from the North, made it pretty cold! We had to buss out the cold weather clothing, including beanies.

The Park was packed with Spring break Campers and Visitors! No parking!! We had to park the Trailer down the road. There was a Family Reunion Party/Camp, 150+ people. Live Band, Big Screen TV, the whole  nine yards! All the other Camp Sites we're occupied. There must have been over 200 people there this weekend! In spite of it all. The Boys had a great time! They played ball on the beach and went swimming. They worked on Life Saving skills and Rank requirements. We did two Scoutmaster Conferences.

A Special Thank You to Devin Kiyohiro for sharing his knowledge, and working with the Scout's on their requirements.I want give a shout out to our Scout Leaders! Great job of taking care of our younger Scout's! The Boy's couldn't play Capture The Flag, there was no space to play. We had a small Campfire on Saturday night. We couldn't find enough wood. So we all retired to bed early. Everyone was well rested, we we're all up before 6:00 a.m. on Sunday. Because we knew we had to work hard to carry everything back to where the Trailer was parked, then load it up. We didn't leave until 9:00 a.m.

A HUGE MAHALOS to our Grubmaster, and Iron Chef Steven Ogata. Mahalos to Vernon Verzon for the Beef Soup. Hit the spot! Thank You to our Towmasters, Todd Duyvejonck and Vernon Verzon! Great job! Mahalos to Sharon Kiyohiro for the crab dip and dessert. Thank You to Damien Boncales for the ice and dessert. Mahalos to Vernon Verzon and Dan Kiyohiro for
assisting me with the Scoutmaster Conferences. Thanks Sharon, Dan, and Damien for spending the day with us.

Camp Wicklund Feb. 2016

It was a chilly weekend at the Wicklund camp but it sure was relaxing, kicking back at the beach by the campfire. The weather was great for most of the weekend except for Sunday morning just as we packed up the last of the tarps. The rain came down fast and heavy, but after the rain was a beautiful rainbow. On Saturday the boys assisted Mr. and Mrs. Wicklund by removing A LOT of weeds along the sides of the house and property line. It sure got hot during the day, but the boys had some cooling off time in the ocean.

Dutch Oven Night

February 5, 2016

Each of the three patrols participated in a friendly bake off using the dutch oven. What was on the dessert menu? Cake, of course. This just proves that you can have your cake AND eat it it too. Despite a few undercooked sections of cake all the boys had a great time baking with the dutch ovens.

Christmas Lights Removal

The Christmas Holiday Season always seems to go by so quickly. The scouts started out the new year by lending a helping hand to remove the Christmas lights at the Momilani Rec Center. They were very efficient, and completed the job in just 30 minutes. Way to go scouts!
