Another Summer Camp has come and
gone, hope you didn't blink. We had 18 boys from Troop
75 attend the 5th week of Summer Camp at Pupukea this year.
There were close to 300 boys at camp this past week,
including Troops from Maui, Big Island, California, and
Texas. Camp was so large that each meal service was split
into two time slots. We lucked out and got the second time
slot. Which meant we got to walk up for meal assembly, walk
back to our campsite, and then walk back up at our appointed
mealtime. Personally, I logged an average of 8 miles of
walking each day at camp.
Oh and did I mention that the boys
were smiling and laughing from the first rooster crow until
the last raindrop fell each night. I hope that meant they
had fun! I would like to thank each Scout who attended
Summer Camp this year, it was truly a memorial
event.
I would also
like to thank each parent for allowing your son to attend
this camp, for bringing all kinds of goodies from ice to
donuts to pizza, and for picking up your son after all his
classes were done. A BIG mahalos to Kevin for towing the
trailer to and from camp, to Steven for spending the wettest
part of the week with us at camp, and to Al, Paul, and
Damien for coming out during the week and participating in
the Scoutmaster Belly-Flop contest at the pool. A SUPER BIG
mahalos to Jason for not only staying the entire week and
cooking an awesome Troop 75 I Want Some More Cobbler, but
also teaching 2 Cooking Merit Badge Classes at camp this
week.
Once again the
boys worked hard at camp when they were not in class and
have earned their Honor Troop award.
And last, but not least, please
congratulate Kamren the next time you see him for completing
the BSA Mile Swim.
Mahalo,
Jeff

Hi Ho Hi Ho, it's down the trail we trudge. The power of mother nature treated we to an awesome display, 10 to 15 foot waves barreled down the coastline. This prevented us from exploring the many tidal pools that line the shoreline. But it's all good, we got close enough to see a Hawaiian monk seal resting in a tide pool. Humpback whales tail slapped and breached the surface's on both coast. Blows are not only on whales, the boy's got great pic's as the wave crashed the shore and big spray's of ocean water shot out. I did not realize the magnitude of the nesting area of the albatross. Man, that's a big bird. Spelunking, what dat? We repelled into a giant cave and explored it by flashlight. The mid mourning showers cooled us, as we greeted the many nature lover and whale watchers on the trail. All in all, everyone made it with no injuries, and in good spirits. PRICELESS!!!

What a fabulous Christmas night for a Court Of Honor! We certainly ended our year with a bang! It was a very fun evening! It was a time for reflection and celebration! Good food and great fellowship. I'd just want to say a HUGE MAHALOS to the Scout's, Parents, Grandparents, Siblings, Family and friends. You made this Court Of Honor a huge success. The Troop is so blessed with wonderful and dedicated Parents. And that is reflected in our Scout's. It's an honor and pleasure to be the Scoutmaster. Thank you all for another memorable Troop 75 year.

We had a very nice turn out, almost a hundred people. We had special guests from the Community, and even from out of town. We we're also joined by Troop 75 Alum's and Eagle Scout's. They made it extra special! The food and desserts we're fantastic! The Silent Auction was a success. But most importantly, we celebrated the accomplishments of our Scout's. I'm so proud of them. I'm glad we we're finally able to do a Hana Hou performance of our award winning Dr. Who air guitar gig. Hope you all enjoyed it. The balloon relay pretty entertaining to.

MUCH MAHALOS to Ada and the Ladies of the Activities Committee for doing such a fabulous job! With the food, wrapping the Silent Auction items and everything in between. Mahalos to all the Parent's who donated items for the Silent Auction, canned goods, and for helping out. Special Thanks to Damien  for loaning us his sound system.  Mahalos to "Kutmaster" Jason  on DJ and Announcer. Mahalos to my Braddah Who wanna be's for doing the Hana Hou performance with me. And Thank You to everyone who purchased items from the Silent Auction.

THANK YOU very much your generous gift! That was really heart felt. I appreciate your thoughtfulness! What we(Adults) do for the Troop is a culmination of efforts by all of the Adult Leaders to teach and guide our Scout's to be the best that they can be! We all have an integral part of the foundation which is the strength that makes this Troop so awesome!  It cannot be accomplished by one man. We are a team! We truly are Ohana! And I'm proud to be a part of it.

PEARL CITY CHRISTMAS PARADE

It was a very wet weekend to say the least! But that didn't stop Troop 75 from participating in a rained out Christmas Parade. I'd like to say a HUGE MAHALOS to all the Scout's, Parent's and Siblings who braved the elements of Mother Nature. To march, in what turned out to be a nice walk with no rain. It was like Mother Nature said, Troop 75 has done so much for the Community and touched the lives of so many people, I'll bless them with nice calm weather. And that she did! We we're so grateful the rain stopped for the Parade.

I'd like to say Thank You to our Scout's! The Troop was represented very well. Well done Boy's! We flew our flags with honor as we marched in a nice formation and spread our Love, Aloha and Holiday Spirit to the Pearl City Community. It was a short Parade, as most of the participants withdrew their entry due to the poor weather. That's understandable, no one wants to be sick during the Holiday's, or get struck by lighting! It may have been short, but it was sweet and filled with so much Holiday Spirit!

We marched our way right into the hearts of the Judges, and we we're awarded First Place for the Best Matching Unit. And a $100 Gift Certificate from the Pearl City Shopping Center Merchants Association. That we can spend at any of the participating merchants. CONGRATULATIONS Scout's! You made this all possible. We're so proud of you guys!

Scout Master.

Peacock Flats hike

I hope you all had a nice safe weekend! It was a fabulous day for a Hike. The weather was perfect! Sunshine and a cool trade wind breeze, couldn't ask for better conditions. I just want to say a HUGE MAHALOS to the Scout's and Parents who came out for this Hike. Especially to our newest Scout's, they did very well! Special Thanks to Dave  and Todd  for organizing and coordinating this Hike.

I'll be the first to admit that this was one of the most challenging and physically demanding Hikes. But our Scout's accepted the challenge and conquered this Trail. The Scout's did a fantastic job of keeping hydrated and pacing themselves. They learned about the different plants and trees. Saw wild turkeys, had a nice sit down lunch and we're treated to breath taking views at the end of the trail.

I only wish I had the stamina to keep up with the Scout's and other Parents. I had to turn back at about the 2.5 mile point. My knee started bothering me and I started to cramp up. I was joined by Dan  who's knee was hurting and his leg cramping as well. On our trek back to the parking lot, we had to stop a lot to rest our legs. So we caught rides with two Off-Roaders in their Jeeps. Boy we're we in for the ride of our lives. They took us through some of the 4Wheel trails before dropping us off at the parking lot. We went extreme 4Wheeling! Almost vertical at times and wheels off the ground sideways to! I thought we we're going to roll or flip over on several occasions. We we're greeted at the parking lot by Pavel who turned back just before Dan and I did.

This was a very good experience for all of us! Well that's 2 10 Milers, 3 more to go. Before the big 20 Miler. I'm very confidant that our Scout's will complete this Hiking Merit Badge in no time. It's the Parents that may have difficulty! LoL! Great job Scout's! You guy are the best in the 808! You guys make me so proud to be the Scoutmaster for your Troop! That goes for the Parents as well! Much Mahalos for all your support! I'm going to sleep very well tonight. And be hurting tomorrow! LoL! Have a nice Sunday evening!

Aloha,
Mr. Al
